An early Post-Medieval (c. AD 1500-1600) silver gilt dress hook of Read's Class D, Type 1 (rectangular) (Read 2008, 59). The body and hook survive, but the attachment loop is missing. The body is rectangular with seven projecting knops on the corners, sides and attachment end, and a fleur-like moulding at the junction with the hook. At the centre of the body, three worn annulets surmounted by a recessed heart. A very similar example can be seen on the database: KENT-442B16. The item is 19mm long, 9mm wide and weighs 1.46 grams.

A cast copper-alloy hooked tag of Post-Medieval date. It has asub rectangular plate with integral rectangular sewing lug at the upper edge, and integral hook at the base. The plate has a moulded relife desing with a pellet in the center and four radiating T-shaped arms forming a cross with two pellets in each corner; all within a linear border. An incomplete Post Medieval silver-gilt dress hook. This example is a fragment of a Read, Class A, Type 2 example; consisting of the lower dome of a trefoil shaped fastening. The dress hook is broken at the upper portion of the dome, where it was formerly connected to a further two domes. The circumference of the plate is decorated with a scalloped edge. A copper alloy Post Medeival dress fastening of probable 15th Century date. The fastener has a hemispherical head with twisted copper allloy wire, imitating thread, is wound around the raised three knobs to portray knots and loops. The reverse of the head is undecorated and has a separate shank that has been welded on with a white metal solder. An Early Post Medieval copper alloy dress hook of Read's Class E, Type 8, Figurative. THe hook is one peice moulded relife in the shape of a convex scallop shell. . At the top of the dress hook is an uneven edge, presumably where where the trapezoid loop which has been broken off by an old break; at the bottom is a D sectioned hook. There are two circular rivets at the base of the shell of unknown functin. A similar example can be seen in Read, Page 115 ref 470 The hook is 29.2mm long, 13.9mm wide, 3.9mm thick and weighs 2.20 grams.

An Early Post Medieval copper alloy dress hook of Read's Class E, Type 3, rounded. The plate is circular and convex with moulded foliate decorated on surface. At the top of the dress hook is a trapezoid loop and at the bottom is a D sectioned hook. A similar example can be seen in Read, Page 96 ref 350. The hook is 30.9mm long, 10.7mm wide, 2.1mm thick and weigh 1.31 grams.

Silver-gilt hook section of a blunt-hooked dress clasp; Read's (2008, 159-60) Class B, Type 2. The dress clasp has a circular plate which is convex in profile. The front is decorated in filigree with a ring of seven annulets surrounding a central annulet with a large pellet in the centre. The fastener has a round body with five circular perforations to create a Tudor rose with a raised pellet in the center. The attachment loop is trapezium in shape while at the other end the hook is complete. A similar example can be seen in Read ( 2008) page 98 ref 364 and is classified as Read Class E, Type 3.

A Post Medieval silver gilt dress fastener of 16th to 17th century date. A hook piece with filigree decorated plate. The plate is trefoil shaped with a dome on each foil; the domes are surrounded by applied filigree wire circles and all are glided. A Post Medieval copper alloy dress hook, c. AD1500-1600. The hook is molded in one piece with molded relief and openwork. There is a raised linear circle in the center surrounded by two elongated knops on either side and a swag at the junction of the plate and hook. The attachment plate is bent back on itself and the hook is also bent. A similar example can be seen in Read (2008) page, ref 398. The hook is 28.1mm long, 16.6mm wide, 2.2mm thick and weighs 3.22 grams.

A complete Post Medieval copper alloy fastener or toggle. The base is the shape of an elongated and slightly pointed oval and sub-oval in section. The base is connected to the stem, which is now bent but would have been straight during use, and terminates in a double loop. An incomplete copper alloy toggle, of Post-Medieval date. The object has an ovoid body with pointed ends. From the long side of the ovoid projects an integral shaft with a flattened double loop terminal. One of the loops is now broken. The object is undecorated; it is covered in a thick dark green patina but file marks are visible on all three parts. The patina has worn off on part of the shaft revealing a brass coloured alloy core. The object measures 25.8mm (length) x 23.0mm (width) x 8.0mm (thickness) and weighs 7.22g.

An Early Post Medieval cast copper alloy dress fastening. The tag is sub lozenge shaped in plan with three attachment knops and ornamental knops on either side. A rectangular projection from one end of the lozenge where the paired hooked fastener attaches. There is molded floral decoration in the center of the lozenge; the reverse is undecorated. Read Class A Type 10. The tag is 36.1mm long, 21.5mm wide, 2.1mm thick and weighs 5.48 grams.
