Copper alloy object, initially identified as a furniture escutcheon. However, Chris Richter of Germany kindly identified this object as a women's corset fitting of more recent date, of a type that remains in use today. He provides the following visual reference to an image of such objects 'in action', at: http://www.neheleniapatterns.com/loeffelschliessen.jpg. The fasteners are placed on the rigid front of the corset (the busk) and enable it to be removed without full unlacing.
