An incomplete Post Medieval silver groat of Mary (AD 1553-1554). Pomegranate privy mark (North 1960). London mint. The coin has been pierced at the back of the head on the obverse. The hole is narrow and crescent-shaped with indents surrounding. North (1991: 126).
The overall dimensions are as follows: 23.90mm in diameter, 0.80mm in thickness and 1.97g in weight.

A possible plated copy groat of Mary I of AD 1553-1554 (Spink 2492, North 1960 for type). Mint marks are not clear.
Obverse:- Crowned bust of Mary facing left. legend around 'MARIA D G ANG FRA Z HIB REGI'
Reverse:- Long cross fourchee dissecting a shield into four quarters. Legend around '[V]ERI[T]AS TEMPOR[I]S FIL[IA]'
The reverse has a section near the rim of the coin that has lifted up, flap-like, and has trapped dirt beneath it.
