A cast copper alloy mount, probably from a vehicle. The mount has a base or back shaped like a sexfoil; adjoining the upper and lower lobes are two perforated lugs. From the centre of this backplate protrudes a three-dimensional, realistic likeness of a wild boar’s head and forelegs. This artefact was found by detectorists from Lancashire on a farm in Osbaldwick; a cast was made of the artefact (this replica was kept by the farmer), and the original was bought from the farmer. This potentially unique artefact probably dates to the 1st or 2nd century. (Recorded from the replica)

A Romano-British cast copper alloy mount or possible figurine in the form of a bird, probably a duck, in the round. The birds body survives, but its head and feet have been broken off. Two incised collars around the neck, indicate detail on the bird, whilst its wings have been drawn out with incised lines. A series of oblique, incised lines represent the wing feathers, in a very stylised manner. The tail has received a little perhaps recent damage. Below the body on either end, are two broken extensions, which may have formed a ring below the figurine. This is a much more sophisticat…
