A cast copper-alloy escutcheon or vessel mount of Roman date, c. AD 43-410. The mount is anthropomorphic, consisting of the helmeted head and shoulders of Minerva or possibly Cupid. The shoulders and chest may be wearing a cuirass or be bare; it is uncertain. The head and face sits on a short neck emerging from the shoulders. A Roman mount, 43-300 AD. Petal shaped mount, rounded at one end and gently pointed at the other. A central hole is slightly off-centre and the mount is D-shaped in section. There are scratches and gouges on the surface. The roundedness and the metalwork quality make the piece more likely to be Roman however an enameled example has been dated to the medieval period, though this piece is more tapered at one end: see LIN-9D5607

A cast copper-alloy unidentified mount of probable Iron Age to Roman date. The object is incomplete, with a discoidal base and a hollow sub-circular projection with an abraded break. The outside of the projection is slightly ridged. Emerging from the underside of the base is an incomplete iron shank of rectangular section. In appearance, the mount is superficially similar to a terret with a collared base, but it is definitely not a terret. The closest parallel that could be found was a linch pin, and this object may be an incomplete terminal though the identification is not confid…

A cast copper-alloy mount or pendant of probable Roman date. The mount is fan-shaped, or possibly pelta-shaped, as a break is found along the end where a stem may have been. The outer convex edge has small incised lines approximately 3mm in length running radially to the edge, with 3-5mm spacing between each line. The metal has a high tin content. In appearance and size and shape, it is also similar to the spatulate terminal of an Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch, but the decoration seems less likely for such an identification.

The reverse is hollow with a sub-rectangular shank that attatches vertivally to the back of the fitting that would have allowed it to mount to another object.

Copper-alloy fragment of Roman decorative metal, 43-410. Since only a small part remains it difficult to determine the original purpose of this fragment. There are similarly decorated examples of many object types and it may be part of a decorated mount, furniture fitting, cart fitting or strap end. The upper portion of the mount is sub-square in plan and is decorated with diagonally incised lines. The hollow cast collar is inset from the above decoration and flares into a knob shaped terminal.

A cast copper-alloy bird mount of Roman date. The bird is simple in execution, with an oblong body supporting a short neck, on which rests a globular head with a beak. Corrosion has obscured any detail of the bird, though a fair patina remains, suggesting there may have been no further detail. The flat underside has a short cylindrical shank. The bird may have been mounted on a vessel originally, though other types of object remain a possibility.
