An incomplete post-Medieval decorated silver disc probably associated with a huntsman's whip (c. 1800-c. 1900).
The object is probably the end cap from the handle of a whip.
This damaged flat disc is decorated at the front and has an imprint of the design on the rear face. At the front it has raised capital letters forming a circular border and reads:
(cinquefoil) BUNYAN (cinquefoil) WHIPMAKER (cinquefoil) HOLBOURN
At the centre there is a dog or hound with a long pointed nose and ears sitting right. However, most is missing due to damage in the form of a sub-circular hole…

A slightly damaged sheet silver terminal from a post-medieval object, possibly a riding crop (whip) or umbrella (c. 18th century). The artefact has been squashed in places but retains its general form: a hollow cylindrical body (Dia.: c. 12.1mm) that expands to a bulbous terminal (Dia.: c. 20.0mm). Post medieval handle grip or chape made of multiple strand silver plaited wire, dating from 16th to 20th century. The item is cylindrical in shape; it is open at one end and has a closed, rounded end at the opposite end. The whole of the item is now flattened in appearance due to damage. The wire, which is circular in section, measures c.0.5mm; ten of these wires are combined to form a larger 'thread' measuring c.5mm. The thread has then been woven together to form a basket weave pattern.
