Medieval copper alloy cup weight. This weight is circular in plan and trapezoidal in section, with a hollowed out, flat bottomed interior that forms the cup. It has an external diameter of 35.06mm and an internal diameter of 23.3mm at the rim. It is 15.07mm long from rim to base and weighs 57.94g or just under 2 and a half ounces. The rim is decorated with a continual circle of punched dots whilst the rest of the weight, inside and out, is plain. Lead trade weight. This object is circular in plan, weighs 96 grammes, has a diamater of 36.64mm and is 11.82mm thick. Iron corrosion products on either face of the weight suggests that it has been in the ground against an iron object or in iron rich soil. unfortunately it prevents the reading of any marks on the weight that may have provided a more accurate identification. It is probably post-medieval in date.
