Cast lead fabric weight, used for holding down the hem or a curtain or possibly a skirt. Flat and circular, with two central circular holes and an incised line about 1 mm in from the edge which runs within the circumference as a border. It has been bent since its loss. Despite looking like a button, these weights were and are used to weigh down the hems of curtains, and perhaps also skirts. Examples can be seen on page 83 of Bailey's (2004) Buttons and Fasteners. They seem to come into use perhaps in the eighteenth century, and are still available to buy today.

A post-medieval copper-alloy trade weight dating to the reign of Elizabeth I; this type was issued from 1590 to 1603. The weight is circular with a wide raised rim on the top and a central punch mark. It is stamped with: Crowned EL (for Elizabeth) at 6 o'clock; the sword of St Paul (for London) at 5 o'clock and an inverted ewer (for the founders company) at 11-12 o'clock. It is 38.9 mm in diameter by 3.3 mm thick and weighs 25.15 g. It was probably originally an ounce with some weight lost to corrosion.

Cast copper-alloy figurine of a horse in the round, with moulded ears and nose, incised lines for hair on one side of the mane, and wedge-shaped tail (which looks 'docked' rather than incomplete). It is a heavy casting for its size, weighing 97.1 g. The style and pose of the horse is reminiscent of Medieval chess pieces (bronze examples have been found in London as illustrated in Ward Perkins (1993) (LMMC), Plate XCII, Fig.1, No.A3935, dating to the Medieval period). Other copper-alloy horse figurines on the database include HAMP-8FE574 and SWYOR-D37EE5, but these have riders combined …

Cast lead trade weight or net weight, a flat rectangular prism in profile, with an integral attachment loop with a perforation hole of about 7 mm in diameter. The base is rectangular in section but not flat so that the weight is not free-standing. It is 45 mm in length, 25 mm in width and 14 mm in thickness at its base and 7.3 mm in thickness at its attachment loop. It weighs about 86.85 grams which equates to about three ounces avoirdupois. Biggs & Withers (2000) illustrate a similar weight on page 31, No.67, which is probably medieval. Bailey (1995) also depicts a similar…
