Post Medieval, copper alloy trade weight? 14mm in diameter and 3mm thick. The weight is in good condition with a green patina and a weight of 2.59grams. The weight is marked with the ewer of the London founders company who issued the weights and has what appears to be a crown minus the monarchs initial? The shape of the weight and the marks fit with the smaller ones issued between 1590 and 1826, but without an initial its not datable.

These weights are widely known as 'spindle whorls' and have been found in archaeological contexts of the late medieval period, but it possible that they had a much wider use, such as as netsinkers or weights for traps. Vertical lines have been etched around the body for decoration. The body narrows towards the top, which has been shaped at the apex to create a suspension loop. The loop is for storage purposes.
