Lead possible weight. Cast oval plano-convex object, pierced with a possibly drilled hole on the site of a short cut at its edge, and with a broad cut across its flat surface; patinated. This might have been cast from scrap as a tiny ingot as the underside is rough and perhaps sanded but the hole suggests it was then put to some suspended use. In plan the weight is broadly trapezoidal with concave top and bottom to the weight, the sides are incised with two lines following the outer (long) edges, the outer parts obscured, rectangular in section, two holes are included in the cast, probably to facilitate suspension, one at each end. Weight equates to 7 3/4 ounces, probably intended as an 8 oz weight. Cf. WREX-F979D1 for a broadly similar but lighter example.
