The weight is bun-shaped with a flat base and rounded face. The face is deeply inscribed with VIII which attests to its weight as nearly 8oz. The object has a dark cream patina. Dimensions: Diameter 45mm; width 17mm; weight 214.84g The weight almost corresponds with the mass of 8 oz under the ‘binary’ averdepois system that was standardised in 1588 (1992, 44).
