Two lead truncated conical weights or spindle whorls of uncertain Roman to post-medieval date.  Objects such as these were used for a long period of time for a variety of functions with little change in form. They may be crude spindle whorls, but seem more likely to be weights are are too irregular in shape. 1. Diameter: 19.77mm, thickness: 11.53mm, weight: 16.07g (diameter of central hole: c.7.35mm) 2. A complete lead weight of uncertain date. The object is disc-shaped and perforated with a small off-centre hole. It could possibly have been used as a spindle whorl, but seems too irregularly shaped to have functioned correctly. Because the object lacks diagnostic features it could easily date from the Roman to post-medieval period. Diameter: 33.36mm, diameter of central hole: 11.17mm, thickness: 7.21mm, weight: 51.60g

A complete lead ovoid or 'egg-shaped' standing weight of uncertain date. It is very roughly egg-shaped, but with a flat base to allow it to be free-standing. A narrow circular hole runs longitudinally through the centre where a lost suspension rod and loop may once of passed. It weights 139.5g or just under 5oz. A complete lead hanging weight of probable medieval to post-medieval date. The object is rectangular both in shape and cross-section. There is a small square hole through one end and a wheel-like design has been incised on one face. The surface of the metal is corroded and there is damage in places around the sides. A complete lead bell-shaped object, possibly a weight of uncertain Roman to post-medieval date range. The object is of simple straight-sided shape with a small circular suspension loop extending from the upper end. Both sides have been crushed together. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded. Because the object is made from lead it is unlikely to have actually functioned as a bell. Although lead bells were produced in the medieval period at Canterbury as pilgrim souvenirs (e.g. LON-806D1C, KENT-EC8680, LON-C82858 and LEIC-6F1903) the patina and crude form of this example may …

A cast lead weight, possibly a steelyard or similar weight. It is hemispherical in form with unevenly cast surfaces. Through the centre of the weight extends an incomplete iron loop or hook that is rectanular in form and square in section, perhaps formed from a nail or similar item. The entire object measures 38.94mm in diameter, 24.85mm in height, and 115.24g in weight. It may be of any date from the Roman period onward, with a date range in the Medieval or later periods most plausible.

A complete lead weight of Roman to post-medieval date. It is discoidal in shape with rounded sides and slightly concave surfaces. One face has the number VIII inscribed in the centre with two stars above it and a circle formed from a wavy line below. The other face has an irregular recess in its centre, roughly in the shape of a leaf, with a transverse groove across its centre. The surface of the weight is heavily worn with many scratch marks.
