Age uncertain, crudely cast, lead alloy, probable unofficial, trade type weight. Free standing, oval base, conical shape with flat apex and no suspension loop, but there is a small central, circular, dimple/recess at the base. Stable white/pale grey patina but a number of scratches and dents probably from agricultural machinery. This has an unknown date from Roman period to Post medieval (43-1799AD). Ref. A cast, post medieval, lead or lead alloy object, possibly a weight, AD.1500-1600. The object is a small rectangular piece of cast lead, the upper surface is decorated with concentric incised squares. The rear of the object has to shallow ridges running along the short edges of the piece. The whole object is a dark grey patina with some flaking corrosion. The object may be similar to YORYM-F95A9A.

It has a large central circular perforation with an internal diameter of 9mm. The weight is undecorated. The opposite face of the object is flat and undecorated. The object has a mid-greyish white patina and is worn. Similar examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are typically dated broadly to the medieval period c.1100-1500AD. It is circular in shape, measuring 21.41mm in diameter, with a central piercing, measuring 5.89mm in diameter. The object is 8.12mm in thickness, weighs 23.81g, and is undecorated. There are similar spindle whorls or weights on the database, most notably: HAMP-DF5F35 and HAMP-4E92D1.
