An elongated lead suspension weight probably medieval to post-medieval in date. The weight is elongated, widest at the loop end narrowing to towards a point at the other. The weight has four main faces but each corner is chamfered creating eight edges. The wider loop end is relatively flat and the narrow end is conical. The entire length of the weight is curving slightly to one side. The surface has no decoration and is whitish-grey in colour. This weight was probably used for ‘plumming’ lines in construction or possibly as a fishing or bird net weight, by attaching string or cord …

A cast copper alloy object in the shape of a bull’s head. The object is basic in style with punched ring-and-dot eyes, of which one is unclear; one horn is also partly broken. The artefact has a slightly rough green patina. The reverse has a shallow sub-rectangular hollow with traces of lead alloy. This may be a weight or possibly a mount; it probably dates to the 1st or 2nd century.

A hole is present through the centre of the weight. The lead is a light greyish-white and is heavily marked. The object weighs 32.8g. Weights of this type were possibly used as fishing weights.

An incomplete cast lead weight of Medieval to Post-medieval date (AD 1200-1700) The weight is a sub-ovate disk with an integrally cast pellets design running circumferentially around the obverse of the weight. The centre of the object appears devoid of decorative pattern although due to the condition of the object this may have been obscured post-depositionally. Sections out the outer portion of the weight are missing.
The reverse is smooth with not decoration, there is a single almost central line which runs across the diameter of the reverse, this possibly occurred post-deposition…

The metal is a mid greyish-white colour and the surface is scarred and pitted. The weight is 43.1mm long, 38.2mm wide and weighs 323g.
As lead weights of this time were utilised over a number of centuries it is very difficult to date them more accurately without further contextual information.

There are three makings on the weight including a ewer, one of the London marks of 1590-1826. This is postioned at a 5 O'clock position. There is a capital letter I, at the 11 O' clock position, it is surmounted by a faint impression of a crown. The 'I' is a sign of the royal cypher on London weights and dates from 1590-1714. A complete cast lead shield-shaped trade weight of medieval to post-medieval date. The weight is decorated on one side with a double fleur-de-lis design in relief. The fleur-de-lis' are arranged end to end, so one appears upside down. They are seen within a raised border. The edge of the weight is decorated with linear markings.
The reverse is flat and undecorated.
The metal is a mid brownish-grey colour and is slightly worn.
