A complete copper alloy trade weight issued in the reign of George II (1727-1760).
The weight is disc shape with a raised rim that is bevelled on the inside. The surface is slightly concave and has a series of finely turned concentric grooves. There are four stamp marks on this face: a sword at 12 o’clock, representing the sword of St. Paul for the City of London, a capital letter 'A' (for avoirdupois) at 3 o’ clock, an ewer (for the Founder's Company, maker of weights) at 6 o’clock, and a crowned ‘G’ (royal cypher) at 9 o’clock, probably for George II. The reverse fa…

A complete cast copper-alloy probable coin weight dating to the Post Medieval period (1500-1700). It is broadly square in plan, measuring 15.70mm high by 15.96mm wide and is 7.58mm thick, with rounded edges and corners. All faces are slightly worn with a uniform mid-greenish-brown patina.
On each of the weight's faces the symbol for half '1/2' is present and it weighs 13.25g, just shy of half an ounce - indicating its use as a half ounce weight.

The upper face is decorated with what appears to be a worn moulded uncrowned fleur-de-lys on a raised shield. The underside is smooth and undecorated with an overall light brown and cream patina. The mass, although worn and damaged and a bit light, is probably intended to be 4oz in the Troy or Apothecary's system of a pound of 12 ounces of 31.1g.

Five roughly cast lead perforated weights. Each is an approximate cone shape with a hole running from the apex to the base, suggesting use as suspension weights or line weights. They probably date from the Medieval, Post Medieval or Modern periods, AD 1100 - 1900.
The perforations are generally small, or tapering, indicating that these were line weights. Only two of the weights have a mass that could match a recognised system of weighing (numbers 1 and 5) and these could have been used as pan weights or suspension weights.
The others were probably used for adding mass such a…

A cast lead artefact, probably a one ounce weight, of Medieval or post-Medieval date, about AD 1250 - 1900. It is sub-rectangular in plan, flat at the base and with sloping sides rising to a rounded summit. The base has a central, sub-rectangular depression and there are the remains of a thin, ferrous wire running vertically through the centre. This may have originally been a suspension loop. The artefact has a patchy, dark grey patina. It is 16.7mm long, 16.3mm wide and 16.1mm high. It weighs 27.94g (close to one ounce in the mercantile or avoirdupois systems).

There are two deep grooves on the reverse, one running upwards from the rounded point for about a third of the length of the weight, the other running diagonally from the top of one of the lobes to near the edge to just above the end of the vertical cut. It is 33.4mm long, 28.4mm long and 15.6mm thick. It weighs 117.9g (4.15oz). The mass could suggest that it was intended as a 1/4lb (quarter pound) weight in the Mercantile System which should have a mass of 116.6g. A lead weight, probably Medieval, dating from about AD 1200 - 1500. It is triangular, with a raised border on one face. This face is also decorated with a design in shallow relief, perhaps a crown over a fleur de lis, but it is not clear whetrh there is one motif or two. The design has a round raised area in the centre of the shortest side, and a rounded rectangular raised area in each corner flanking it, then these three areas are joined by stems forming a V shape. A lead weight of uncertain date, probably Medieval to Post Medieval, AD 1200 - 1900. It is a circular disc, slightly recessed on one face. It has a blocked central hole of 5.3mm diameter. There are four pieces of iron embedded in the weight, at the four cardinal points. Only one is clearly visible, the others being below the surface. The weight has a well developed cream patina. It is 48.7mm diameter, 17.4mm thick and at 259g, it does not fit easily into any standard system of weighing. It may instead be designed to add mass to a rope or net, or act as a counterweight.
