The metal has a mid-white patina and is worn. The object is 19.1mm long, 14.4mm wide, 8.6mm thick and weighs 17g. Rolled and/or folded lead alloy strips are commonly believed to be Roman curse tablets. However, comparing this object to examples of verified curse tablets/rolls (http://curses.csad.ox.ac.uk), suggests the present example is of a more modern date and a weight, or lead ingot.
