A large and crude cast lead weight, with the remains of an iron shank, visible at the apex. The weight is triangular, with a slightly rounded top and a flatter base. It weights 840g or 1lb 13 oz. It measures 76.1mm x 69.2mm x 31.9mm. It is probably a steel yard weight. But it is not clear if it is Roman or medieval in date.

A cast copper alloy object in the shape of a bull’s head. The object is basic in style with punched ring-and-dot eyes, of which one is unclear; one horn is also partly broken. The artefact has a slightly rough green patina. The reverse has a shallow sub-rectangular hollow with traces of lead alloy. This may be a weight or possibly a mount; it probably dates to the 1st or 2nd century.

Cast lead possible Roman weight.
It is cylindrical, with a central iron core, which would have become a loop, but has now broken.
Roman steelyward weights are usually biconical, not cylindrical but this example does have the iron core like the Roman ones, so it is possible it is Roman rather than Post Medieval.

A complete cast copper alloy Roman steelyard weight in the form of an acorn. The upper body is tapering slightly in the form of an acorn. Two incised collars around the weight indicate detail. At the top is a large circular loop. The weight is a mid greyish-brown and it is heavily pitted. It would have been hung from a set of balances via a small chain. It is difficult to find excavated parallels, but a similar example is known from 'Ancient Brooches and Other Artefacts, (Hattatt 1989, 472 -473, ref: 172).
