A copper-alloy coin weight for a Unite of James I, 2nd coinage, revalued.  The obverse depicts a crown surmounting the value XXII // S. The reverse is badly worn, but would a faint crowned bust with sceptre facing right is visible.  The metal has a dark brown patina and is worn.  Measurements are; length 17.4mm, width 16.5mm, thickness 4.5mm and weight 8.73g.  The original weight of a Unite would have been 10.03g. It is discoidal and stamped on one face with the royal cipher of King Charles I (CR beneath a three-pointed crown) beside most probably the arms of Norwich (a castle with a lion beneath, although the lion is poorly preserved). Beneath these is a stamped crescent, with its open side facing the edge of the disc. The reverse is unmarked. Similar to NMS-77E717. Early to mid-17th century.  Diameter: 24.3mm. Thickness: 3.0mm. Weight: 11.5g (0.4oz)
