A complete whetstone or weight with suspension loop. The form of such objects is rather conservative and chronologically unchanging, making them difficult to date precisely. However, the present artefact, with its riveted metal suspension loop, seems likely to fall within the postmedieval period. It is rectangular in profile and section, and is relatively thick (13.5mm). It measures 54.5mm x 21.9mm, with a 23.6mm high suspension loop attached near the top, so that the total length of the object is 58.6mm, though the base is broken. It weighs 41.7mm.
