Cast copper alloy mount in the form a small figurine of a banqueter of Roman date, probably from the 1st century AD. The figure is eroded with the original surface now missing. The figurine depicts a reclining banqueter resting on the left elbow. The figure appears to be naked above the waist. The lower part of the body and legs are covered with draperies, the folds of which are indicated by cast and recessed lines on the front and rear. The hand is visible against the base of drape. The rear of the figure may have further drapery over the left shoulder. No detail of the face or the re…

Possible fragment from a vessel mount, possibly originating from an organic vessel, the contextual placing of the find may suggest a Roman date for the find. The mount has an expanded rim with a series of transverse ridges over the top. The rim has a slight plain inturn, before a low moulding defining a decorative panel consisting of a moulded vertical line, which meets a pair of moulded diagonal lines at the top. There is no obvious means of attachment. The rear of the piece is plain.

Cast copper alloy vessel leg, sub-triangular in section, which tapers towards its angled foot. The foot is separated from the main part of the leg by a transverse ridge in the angle. The weight of the vessel leg suggests that the copper alloy was leaded. Possibly the leg of a tripod ewer. Close dating is difficult because the form of the vessel legs remained similar from the late medieval period until the seventeenth century (Read 1995, 95); however, the distinctive transverse ridge in the angle of the foot and leg of this example is closely paralleled by a vessel leg recovered from a …
