A complete cast copper alloy early medieval (Anglo Saxon) strap end (cf. Thomas Class A2h). The plate is narrow and oval, waisted to a flared rear end which is characteristically split but incomplete having broken across the rivet holes on the edge. The front of the plate is decorated with cross hatching or lattice decoration within a linear border. The terminal is zoomorphic, although now too worn for much detail to be visible.

Copper alloy and textile strap end. A pair of plates or a single plate folded lengthways with an ogival outer end and a rivet hole of diameter 1.6mm at its inner end, which was probably engrailed. A further rivet at the front end was only noted during image processing. Woven fabric, now of a buff tint, remains trapped between the plates. This might point to a later medieval date within the available range as sumptuary laws enacted following the Black Death, particularly the Statute of 1369, restricted the wearing of leather straps by the lesser sort. An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy composite circular strap-end dating to c.1250-1450.
Consisting of two separate sub-circular plates with projecting rectangular attachment arms that terminate in breaks. Riveted together with two rivets that remain in place on either side of the plate. Decoration on one attachment arm with what appears to be a double scribed letter V. The surface displays an even green patina.
Plate diameter 17.9mm, o/a length 25.3mm, thickness 2mm, weight 3.6g.

An early medieval copper alloy zoomorphic strap end of Anglo Scandinavian 'Urnes' style dating to c.AD 850-1100, most likely Thomas' Class G. The object is sub-rectangular in plan. One end is wedge-shaped with a split end, the other is a trapezoidal terminal containing a trapezoidal aperture. The object has a larger trapezoidal aperture towards the centre of the object.

An incomplete copper-alloy Strap End of Early-Medieval (late Anglo-Saxon) date (AD 1000-1100). Thomas Class E, Type 1 (Winchester Style). The object consists of an openwork, lozenge-shaped plate, with a rectangular upper attachment plate with a single central circular perforation. The plate is composed of Winchester style openwork decoration in the form of a series of symmetrical fronds, emanating from a central stem which twist along the edges of the plate and end in inward curving lobed terminals. The lower rounded end is missing due to an old, abraded, transverse break.

A complete medieval cast copper alloy strap end with openwork plates on both sides; one with a quatrefoil and one with an elongated heart shaped cutaway. The sides are comprised of a separate strip of metal, giving the strap end a hollow interior. The front end is rounded and the rear end is scalloped. There are three rivets holding the object together, two at the rear and one at the front.

A complete medieval copper alloy composite strap end. One whole plate, one partial plate and the spacer are retained; the plates are rectangular with a rounded terminal with a small projection. The spacer fills the front half of the object and is secured with a single rivet; the rear end is incomplete but had a decorative circular cutaway at the centre, with rivets to either side, one of which is retained. There is no decoration. Circa 14th-15th century.

A fragment of a cast copper-alloy strap end (Thomas Class B, Type 1) of early medieval date (c.750-850).
Description: The strap end remains as the tapering attachment end which terminates in three moulded ribs before a transverse break. The split attachment end is bilobed and has two attachment holes, now missing their rivets. The front plate has also broken away in parts around the holes. The fragment is undecorated. It has a medium green patina.

The object is one plate from a composite strap end, which is rectangular in shape with an upper circular perforation, the lower end terminates in an old, abraded transverse break. A cast copper alloy zoomorphic strap end dating to the Early Medieval period (c. AD 800-1100), of Thomas class B type 1. The strap end is triangular and bent in the middle. It has a moulded zoomorphic terminal with a transverse incised line collar and three dot-in-annulets behind running to the rear of the plate. The rear end is split with two rivet holes, one retaining traces of an iron rivet. There is a pierced hole to the rear of the terminal, slightly offset to one side, the function of which is unclear.

An incomplete and badly corroded medieval strap end. Only one plate remains, this is fragmentary and incomplete. It has a rounded terminal and a narrow, tapering sub rectangular plate with a decorative trefoil rear end and a single rivet hole at the centre of the rear end retaining a copper alloy rivet. A complete copper-alloy Medieval strap end dating to circa AD 1150-1450. It is a composite strap end comprised of two plates with a sheet spacer in between. The terminal is in the form of a trefoil. The plates are joined together by a central, separately cast, copper alloy rivet at the attachment end. There are decorative elements consisting of rocker decoration. It is 48.16mm in length, 12.09mm in width and weighs 6.61g
The terminal is similar to Egan and Pritchard 1991: pg 144, no 671.
