Iron spoon auger. Wrought Iron tool comprising a U-shaped blade of length 48mm, a short shank of indeterminate section and length c.17mm, and a tang of elongated rhomboid form and rectangular section, length c.35mm. The tang would be inserted into a handle when the tool was used, and its expansion is probably intended to prevent it twisting as rotary force was applied. This is one of several tools reported together from the same location. The tang would be inserted into a handle when the tool was used. This is one of several tools reported together from the same location.
