Copper alloy probable spindle or axle fragment. A round section bar with expanded and broken ends, slightly bent, probably as a result of damage, whether in use or post-depositional is uncertain. The identification is suggested by circumferential markings along the bar: a function in a mechanical setting is envisaged, and must point to a relatively recent date. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1850-1950

Copper alloy, painted or oiled, possible spindle. Cast and slightly plano-convex disc with a bevelled rim, painted or oiled black on its flat side. An integrally cast axle of diameter 7.9mm projects circa 3.5mm from the convex face, its further extent being lost; its equivalent on the other side is broken flush with the surface. The finder kindly suggests this object may be from an early seed drill, possibly transmitting power via a light belt. Suggested date: Modern, 1800-1900.
Diameter: 32.7mm, Thickness (disc): 7.7mm, Weight: 43.48gms.

Copper alloy
Possible machine fitting. Cast spindle with collar at one end, and passing through an integral disc at the other, beyond which spindle is bent. Prominent mould lines may suggest this object was not finished or used. Suggested date: Modern, 1800-1900.
Length: 42.2mm, Diameter (disc): 18.7mm, Thickness (spindle): 6.9mm, Weight: 20.32gms.

Copper alloy and lead
Fitting or Spindle. Machine finished object; turning lines are visible on its surface. A baluster shaped sleeve with broader moulding at one end is apparently filled with lead, visible at both its ends. These ends are dimpled with three radial lines, and it appears these hollows sockets were engaged by another mechanical part. Suggested date: Modern, 1800-1900.
Length: 59.48mm, Diameter: 16.36mm, Weight: 60.22gms.
