Copper alloy insole. A sheet metal plate of nearly straight-sided form with rounded ends, and retaining the marks from the heads [5.5mm diameter ] of two small nails on either side at one end, probably the heel. The finder kindly suggests this may be an insole from a work boot. The form is indeed comparable to that of work boot soles going back to medieval times. As the finder's suggestion is informed by family experience [as this reporter understands it] a modern date is suggested. Suggested date: Modern, 1900-1930. Length: 177mm, Width: 71.5mm, Thickness: 1.2mm, Weight: 107.86gms
