Eleven (11) irregular fragments of iron and copper metal working waste (slag) or fuel ash, of Iron Age to Late Medieval dating (800 BC to AD 1600).
All three fragments are light for their size, which would suggest that minimal metal is present within the matrix. All have a honeycomb structure, formed of solidified air bubbles.
All together the fragments weigh 80.0 g.
The process of working ore to produce copper or iron has not changed much from the Iron Age to the Medieval period, so these pieces of slag could date from any time between the Iron Age (80…

The item is copper alloy which appears to have been molten and cool without any shaping or casting. The surface is globular and irregular. There are small areas of a black discoloration on the surface, otherwise the surface is pitted and corroded.
