An amorphous piece of copper working slag, smooth yet curved on one side so possibly dripped (or scraped) from a crucible. Without contextual information it is impossible to date copper slag however noting its presence is important as it may indicate metal working.

A large, roughly rectangular lump of bronze slag, airholes throughout and some elements of the raw copper sulphide are visible (a green-blue colour). The slag has a good deep green patina, similar to that seen on some local Bronze Age metalwork, so it may date from this period. If this lump of slag is indeed Bronze Age, it is interesting that it has survived and was not re-melted, as it is quite an amount of bronze.

A lump of lead cast-off from the manufacturing process. This material would have been removed from the surface of the molten metal, where the impurities rise during manufacturing. Although difficult to date, it is suggested that this slag could date from the Roman to Medieval periods. The slag fragment weighs 111 gms.

Cast-off from metal production, possibly copper. The film covering moltern metal within a crucible was often scrapped off and discarded (hence cast-off). This artefact weighs 2.5 gms and although it cannot be closely dated without contextual information, it may date to the Prehistoric periods as it was found in the vacinity of numerous lithic implements. Bronze Age - Medieval 2100 BC -1500 AD.
