A copper alloy Post-Medieval pierced token. The obverse of the object has a legend which is difficult to decipher, possibly reading 'TIRTONOOORTOOOR' which appears to be nonsensical. The central image depicts an elephant standing left. The object is pierced through the centre, which obscures the body of the elephant. The reverse of the object has a four semi-circles which create a central long cross shape, with the pierced hole at its centre. The object resembles a silver Roman Republican denarius (KENT-6D0CF1) however this example appears to be a toke or jetton perhaps of much later …

A copper-alloy Jetton of Medieval or Post-Medieval date. Obverse shows an unclear shield. Obverse legend is mostly illegible but is probably fictitious: [...]E[...]V[...]. A rose with central pellet sits within the legend at the left hand corner of the shield. The reverse shows an unclear tressure, probably containing an imperial orb surmounted by a cross. This would make it an Anonymous Nuremberg stock Jetton dating c.AD 1500-1525 (Mitchiner, M. 1988 pp.355-358, nos.897, 992-997). This would mean that the die axis is 8 o'clock. Alternatively the tressure may possibly contain an uncle…

Copper alloy jeton of the rose/orb series (Mernick and Algar; 2001; 247/8).
This type of jetton dates from the 16th through to the 17th century and are popularly called stock jettons (ibid).
The obverse is completely worn/corroded away. The reverse has a double trilobe which contains a reichsapfel (imperial orb- an orb with a cross on the top). None of the inscription can be seen on either side as it has totally worn away. A similar example can be seen on page 259, no. 264 (Mernick and Algar; 2001).
This jetton has been pierced, perhaps for use as a pendant.
