Cast copper alloy zoomorphic escutcheon from a hanging bowl dated to the Early Medieval period, c.AD 500-700. The escutcheon is in the form of a unclear beast head and neck. The terminal has a stumped, rounded triangular snout. Sitting above the snout is the animal's head which has prominent brows with incised detail either side of the head, probably depicting eyes. A copper alloy Early Medieval hooked escutcheon from a hanging bowl, probably dating AD 500-700. At the top of the object there is a hook that emerges from the centre of the top of the plate. The hook has a cross section that is rectilinear at one end and rounded at the other, tapering from 4.78mm wide and 4.26mm thick near the base of the hook to 2.96mm wide and 2.06mm thick just before the rounded point. An incomplete copper-alloy late Roman to early medieval (early Anglo-Saxon) mount/escutcheon from a hanging bowl. A complete copper alloy escutcheon dating to the Early Medieval period (c. AD 600-700). The object is formed of a circular disc with zoomorphic hook facing to the rear of the disc. The face of the disc is decorated with an engraved late Celtic-inspired trefoil-like design within a raised border. The recesses on the face of the disc would likely have been filled with enamel but no trace of this now survives. The hook has moulded details, from the base to the head, of an uncertain animal.
