A silver Roman denarius of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235), dating to the period c.AD 222-235 (Reece period 11). SALVS PVBLICA reverse type depicting Salus, draped, seated left on throne, feeding out of patera in right hand snake coiled round altar and resting left arm on side of throne. cf. RIC IV.2, p. 84, no. 178d for the probable reverse type. The coin is 17.4mm diameter, 2.4mm thick and 3.48g in weight. The reverse legend is blundered and appears to read SALVS PSV[...](C?)S, which suggests that either the coin has been double struck with the SALVS legend appearing at both ends of…

A copper-alloy Roman as of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235), possibly a contemporary copy (limesfalsum), dating to the period c.AD 222-235 (Reece period 11). Reverse type probably depicting Victory right holding shield fixed on palm tree? Prototype of the mint of Rome. cf. RIC IV.2 no. 506 for the possible reverse type. The light weight and appearance of this coin might suggest it is a cast contemporary copy (limesfalsum) rather than a very worn official issue.

Copper alloy sestertius of Julia Mamaea, dating to AD 222-35 (Reece Period 11) with obverse IVLIA MAMAEA (AVGVSTA), diademed and draped bust right. Mint of Rome. It is 26mm in diameter and 2.5mm thick. Set into a rectangular lead piece with dimensions 55mm by 45mm with a thickness of 5 to 9mm.  The total weight is 207g. There is possibly another bent disc on the top edge, to the left-hand side. The function of the piece remains a mystery.
