A Medieval silver penny of Stephen, 'lozenge fleury and annulets' type, BMC IV, struck on a square flan with chamfered corners. The coin is incomplete, with a piece of the flan missing and only one or two letters legible.
The two known mints of this issue are Lincoln and Nottingham. Of the three Lincoln coins of this type illustrated by Mossop, two are on similarly-shaped square flans with chamfered corners.
