A highly worn and damaged late 17th-century post-medieval halfpenny of William III, Third issue (c. 1699 - c. 1701; cf. Spink 3556). This is possibly a contemporary copy in tin; the official coins are struck in copper, the last tin coins having been phased out in the early 1690s. It is slightly bent, heavily depleted, and appears to be delaminating.

Unusually light, almost 'plasticy' shilling or halfcrown of Charles I or Charles II, probably a contemporary forgery. Mint mark not visible. A local expert in Charles I coins, Bob Lyall, argues that, "at 6.12 grams, it is of full weight for a Charles shilling (some provincial emergency mints are lightweight) and for a period of just a few weeks in 1626 the Tower struck light weight coins with mm cross on steps whereby a shilling weighed around 5.1 grams. A tin farthing of James II (1685-88), very corroded and is chipped around the edge. There is a rectangular copper plug in the centre of the coin. The date is illegible, but these coins were issued for 1697 only. It is 23.6mm in diameter and 2.9mm thick. It weighs 4.96gm. Reference: Spink (2003) number 3421.
