Silver coin. Medieval penny of Edward II (1307-1327), probably class 10cf5 issue of 1307-1310, neatly rolled into a tube of external diameter 5.8mm with an overlapping seam, obverse outwards. Though Edward II came to a sudden end there is no evidence for any cult related to his unpleasant death, so retention of this altered coin as a souvenir of a martyred monarch seems unlikely. It is, however, small and slightly underweight. Obverse description: Facing bust with broad bifoliate crown with a curved band. Length/Diameter: 16.3mm, Weight: 1.05gms
