A medieval, cast copper-alloy D-shaped or sub-round buckle c. 1350-1450. It has an offset strap bar and the lip is notched to take the pin, which is missing. It has a dark brown patina. It is 12.8mm long, 13.2mm wide, and 2.4mm thick. It weighs 0.71gm. References: Whitehead, Buckles 1250-1800, p. 20 No. 70 and Museum of London, Dress Accessories, p.70, No. 279.

Medieval or Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop buckle frame. The loops are oval and the frame is D shaped in section with a flat back. There are three transverse grooves on the outer edge of one loop and a rust trace on the outer edge of the other. The pin is missing. It is 27.3mm long, 26.3 mm wide, 1.9mm thick and weighs 4.22 grams. Whitehead (2003) illustrates similar buckles on page 53, which he dates to c.1350-1650 AD

Medieval cast copper alloy single looped buckle with integral forked spacer. The buckle frame is sub-oval projecting out to a pointed pin rest in the centre of the outer side. It is triangular in section with a flat back and inner edge and an angled outer side. The forked spacer joins the frame at the strap bar. There is a central gap between the forks with just a narrow strap bar around which the pin would have been bent, it is now missing. A copper-alloy medieval buckle. The buckle is oval in shape with a lipped frame, complete with pin and buckle plate attached. The frame has a notch for the pin and a narrowed bar. The pin is cast. The plate is sub-rectangular and comprised of a folded strip of copper-alloy with a cut for the pin slot. It is also slightly recessed for the buckle bar. One copper-alloy rivet survives at the attachment end of the plate and another is missing. Similar examples are illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 75; 306-310) which date from between 1270 and 1400. This example is also likely to …

Post Medieval copper alloy double looped buckle fragment, 22mm wide and 32mm long. The object is in fair condition and weighs 4.59 grams. It represents just over half of a buckle and has rectangular sectioned 'loops' which are decorated with a scallop shaped motif which forms the pin rest and the terminals of the integral pin bar. Similar to 397 in Whiteheads Buckles.
