Post-medieval copper alloy shoe buckle frame with the embedded ends of an iron spindle. The form is close to that of Whitehead 2003, no. 624 but with ribs flanking a notch in the centre of both edges. Length and width 31.7 and 23mm. c.1660 - c.1720.

Post-medieval copper alloy oval buckle frame with central bar and integral loop, for use as a sword belt hanger. The latter is set at right angles to the frame at one end of the bar. At the opposite end there is a slight swelling or rib on one face of the frame. See Whitehead 2003, 71-2. The oval outline is paralleled by an example from Warwickshire (WAW-5B5313). Copper alloy buckle. Cast single looped or D-shaped buckle with moulded vegetal decoration on its frame with ornate moulded knops at either end of a narrowed strap bar. The latter is clenched by an engrailed and slotted plate of thickness 1mm with fishtail-shaped inner end. An incomplete cast copper-alloy buckle of Meols type 2 dating to the Medieval period, c. 1250-1400. It is broadly oval in plan, with an offset strap bar (all but the very base of the pin missing in old damage) and a thickened outer edge to the frame with two transverse grooves on its upper surface. Preserved in good condition with an even green patina, it measures 23.22mm in length, 15.42mm wide, and 3.65mm thick at the midpoint of the outer frame. It weighs 3.2g. A virtually complete cast copper-alloy buckle of Meols type 9 dating to the Medieval period, c. 1250-1400. It is broadly oval in plan, with an offset strap bar (around which part of the wound-wire pin still survives) and a thickened outer edge to the frame consisting a central thickened lobed section with pin-rest on its upper surface, flanked on each side by a double transverse collar. Preserved in good condition with an even green patina, it measures 24.17mm in length, 17.19mm wide, and 3.39mm thick at the midpoint of the outer frame. It weighs 2.9g. Fragment of medieval copper alloy buckle frame comprising part of one side. There are the remains of three deep rabbets in the edge and on its front face two transverse grooves, both retaining part of two lengths of copper alloy wire. Very similar to an example from London in a context of c.1270 - c.1350 (Egan and Pritchard 1991, no. 443) and a fragment residual in a post-medieval context in Norwich (Margeson 1993, no.154). Extant length 22mm.

The narrowed off-set bar is sub-circular in cross-section. The lip has five transverse linear grooves. The pin is missing. The metal is Light brown and mid-green in colour with a pitted patina. Length: 17.22mm, Width: 22.14mm, Thickness: 4.86mm, Weight: 3.6g.
