Undiagnostic hammered silver bar Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface of the bar conducted at the British Museum indicated an approximate silver content of 70%, the balance being copper with some zinc, tin and lead; it weighs 7.21 grams. The bar is of rectangular section, square ended and with slightly concave sides from hammering the top and bottom faces flat; length: 26 mm; width: 8 mm. There is an irregular depression part way along the centre of one face. The bar shows no diagnostic features and it is not possible to assign it to any particular period…
