A copper alloy Roman coin; a nummus of Constantine I, dating from AD 306 - 337 (Reece Period 15 to 16). Uncertain reverse type SOLI [...] depicting Sol stepping left holding globe, and treading a captive underfoot. Another captive is on the right. Mint of Trier: PTR. This reverse type appears to be uncommon and further research is required to identify it fully. Measurements are; diameter 16.6mm, thickness 1.5mm and weight 1.59g.

RIC VII Trier / p. 187, no. 265var. The obverse type, 'Laureate and draped / cuirassed bust left, holding Victory on globe and mappa/sceptre (RIC I1 / I2) is recorded later in the series for Constantine II (RIC nos. 274 and 289), but not for this particular issue. The bust is recorded as draped in RIC, but this bust looks cuirassed or almost consular.
