A complete Roman bone pin. The head and stem are circular in cross-section. The head is 13.4mm in length and has a conical knob at its apex with a cylindrical section below divided by four encircling grooves. The stem is 89.2mm in length and narrows gradually to a rounded point at its lower end. The object survives in unusually fine condition with shiny dark brown patination in places. A complete Post Medieval knife, probably dating AD c.1690-1730. The knife consists of an ivory handle and iron blade. The blade is a Scimitar type 1 blade (Brown 2001: p.155) dating AD1690 - 1730. It is narrowest at the join to the handle, wideneing and curving slightly towards the tip which is rounded, rather than pointed. The tang of the blade has a sub-circular section, which is inserted into the ivory handle approximately two-thirds of its length. An incomplete Post Medieval ivory diptych pocket sundial dating to the late 16th - early 17th century. This is part of the lower half of the rectangular base for a pocket sun dial, the rest is missing. The upper edge is bevelled, likely forming part of the hinge which attached the lid. In the centre of the case is a carved circular pit with a central hole for a pin and the walls are stepped to accommodate a brass ring and then a sheet of glass. A Post Medieval incomplete knife with ivory anthropomorphic handle and part of the iron blade dating second half of the 16th century. The ivory handle has been carved to depict three-dimensionally the head and neck of a female wearing either a headdress or her hair is fashioned in an elaborate style. A Medieval ivory small comb probably dating 13th - 15th century. This comb is made in one-piece with a straight cross bar and straight sides. It has a lentoid cross-section. The teeth are coarser on one side and finer on the other. There are some file marks extending onto the crossbar where the teeth were carved. There is a little damage to the ends of some of the teeth but the majority are complete. The size of this comb is unusual and may indicate that it belonged to a child.
