A fragment of a struck or hammered Silver coin possibly of Henry IV, mint possibly Calais. It is in the shape of a minor sector of a circle.
The obverse has "LIE" written across the legend with a cross mint mark on top. The bust of the king is facing forward with a flat crown.
The reverse has the letters "LA" with a double saltire stop.
The coin is 8.93mm wide, 11.24mm long, 0.38mm thick and weighs 0.2g.

Silver coin. Round halfpenny, possibly of Henry IV (1399-1413), if so, probably heavy coinage issue of 1399-1412. This is kindly confirmed by Alistair Wardle, who notes: 'This is a Henry IV halfpenny - it is one of 7 dies used for the early heavy coinage'.
Obverse description: Facing bust with bifoliate crown, thin neck above low flat-bottomed shoulders.
Obverse inscription: [--]REX[--], curule X.
Reverse description: Long cross, three pellets in each angle.
Reverse inscription: [CIVI/TAS/]LON/DON
