A silver Early Medieval coin; a penny of Edward the Confessor (AD 1042 - 1066), small flan type dating from AD 1048 - 1050. Mint of York, moneyer Thor (ÐOR). Measurements are; diameter 14.1mm, thickness 09mm and weight 1.10g. The surface of the coin has unusual pinprick pits. A good parallel is EMC number : 1054.1083. See North number 818 on page 179.

Discussion: This coin seems to be similar to that listed by Pagan (2011, 87) as no.814. The obverse of no.814 is listed as his type Ai, The example here however, with a cruder bust and heavily abbreviated obverse inscription (reading EDER/E REA) fits closer to Pagan's group …
