Early Medieval silver penny of Edward the Martyr (975-978), minted by Spirling at Thetford, 975-978 AD, North 763. Obverse: EADPEARD REX ANGLOX, P=the rune wen pronounced W, NG ligated; diademed bust left. Reverse: SPYRELING MOIN DIO, D=thorn, NG ligated; small cross pattee. The coin is bent in the centre at about 90 degrees with a rounded bend.
