A medieval silver cut halfpenny of an uncertain ruler, probably a long cross type of Henry III (1216-1272) or Edward (1272-1307) dating 1247-1279, Class uncertain, mint and moneyer unclear. The coin is very worn with virtually no features remaining. The obverse possibly shows part of a bust (the crown?) and the letters hE, the reverse parts of a long, voided cross the inscription entirely illegible.  It is possible that the reverse cross is a short voided cross (dating 1180-1247), and the design in the may be a cross pommee rather than pellets which would fit with this attributi…

A Continental imiatation of a silver sterling of Henry III (Class 5) minted by Nicole of London. It was produced in the Low Countries most likely in Brabant during the AD 1250s-60s. The obverse legend reads hENR[IC]VS REX [III?] with the letter N reverse barred and ligate with the letter R, letter C is not visible but may be reversed. The eyes appear to be oval. There are some obverse dies with a reversed C. The reverse reads as HIC/OIE/DNB/ANT. There is a bar to the right of the upright of the I joining onto the letter E and the D could be a reversed C as there is a die with a revers…
