A cut half medieval silver penny possibly from the reign of Henry II (1154-1189). The inscriptions are heavily worn and the outer edge is clipped. It has been cut from 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock. There are 5 crown pellets and at least 2 (possibly 3) hair curls on the left side. On the reverse, the last two letters of the moneyer's name could be 'IN' (or 'IR') and the first two letters of the mint are 'CA' suggesting either Carlisle or Canterbury.
