Standard type D (North 1626), initial mark: peirced cross with pellet in one quarter dating to early AD 1480-12th February 1483. London mint. North (1991: 92). The left hand edge of the coin on the obverse has been bent over.  Coin measures 29.5mm in length and 24.5mm in width.

A silver hammered coin dating from the Medieval period: a penny of Edward IV, Second Reign (1471-1483) struck at Durham for Bishop Lawrence Booth from local dies, 1471-1476. N. 1661. It has crosses over the crown. The coin, which is worn and abraded, has a diameter of 12.82mm, a thickness of 0.81mm, and weighs 0.47g. Much of the edge of the coin is missing.
