A heavily clipped silver penny, probably of Edward IV, Durham mint, second reign. The reverse is very worn, but in the centre there appears to be a letter D, which would indicate Bishop Lawrence Booth at Durham. Alternatively, and less likely, the 'D' may be a quatrefoil which would indicate York mint.

A silver medieval coin; a groat of Edward IV (1461 – 1483), light “cross and pellets” coinage (1473 -1478), minted in Dubline with a sun mintmark. The G below the bust stands for Germyn Lynch, the mint master. The coin has a diameter of 25.1mm and is 0.5mm thick. It weighs 1.9g. For reference see Spink’s “Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands” (2003), number 6330.
