A Medieval silver coin: a penny probably of Edward IV, second reign light coinage, Durham mint, dating from AD 1471 - 1483. It was probably struck from local dies at Durham for the benefit of Bishop Lawrence Booth or Bishop Willliam Dudley. The coin is 12.8mm in diameter and 0.3mm thick. It weighs 0.38gm. It is only the size and weight of a halfpenny, so may have been made on a halfpenny flan, or may have been reduced by clipping. The size of the bust and inner circle match a penny.
