As North (1991: 95) no: 1666.  Obverse: Crowned bust facing within a beaded circle. V to right of bust. Inscription: illegible. Reverse: Long cross with D in centre. Three pellets in each quarter with a beaded circle border. Inscription: Illegible. Diameter: 14.48 mm, Thickness, 0,68 mm, Weight: 0.71 g

Silver coin of Edward IV second reign, type XVI, date is 1473-77, Carl Savage comments that the lettering on the late fifteenth century coins is in some cases more elaborate than the early ones, hence you get R’s that look like B’s and various shaped I’s, which is what is found on this coin Dimensions: 24mm diameter and 0.5mm thickness. Silver coin fragment. Penny of Edward IV, second reign (1471-1483), York mint issue of 1475-1476, kindly identified by the finder as Spink no. 2129 or 2130; very worn and probably clipped before that, perhaps to a halfpenny weight. Obverse description; facing bust with bifoliate crown whose ornaments appear to touch, possibly annulet to left of shoulder – the finder reads this as a G. Reverse description: long cross, three pellets in each angle. Reverse inscription: [CI]VI/[--/--/--] Diameter: 14mm, Weight: 0.49gms, die axis: 9

A silver Medieval coin; a penny of Edward IV, 2nd reign (AD 1471 - 1483), issued under Archbishop Lawrence Booth at York (AD 1476 - 1480), or the following Sede Vacante (1480) if there is no quatrefoil at the centre of the reverse. B and key by the neck. The reverse is illegible. See North number 1652 - 1653, Class XXI 1 or XXI 3. The coin is 15.9mm in diameter, 1.5mm thick in its bent state and weighs 0.67g.  The body of the coin is 0.5mm thick.
