A late medieval groat of Edward IV, second reign (1471-83), standard type 'F', probably trefoil initial mark (visible to the reverse). Mint of London, dating to (probably) 1470-1. There are small trefoils on the cusps of the tressure. The finder reports that the coin was bent when found and subsequently annealed and straightened. With thanks to Carl Savage for the identification of this coin and the suggested date. Reference: North 1631

Coins with such a cinquefoil initial mark are noted as having a rose on the breast on the obverse. The rose is not clear on this coin but the obverse has been double struck (cf.
