An incomplete medieval silver penny probably of Edward IV, second reign (AD1471-1483) dating to c.AD1480-1483. Mint of York, struck under the authority of Archbishop Thomas Rotherham. The inscription has been almost entirely clipped away and the identification is based on the mint, the marks by the breast - a T to the left and a badly struck key to the right - and the quatrefoil at the centre of the reverse. The initial mark is indiscernible, but for this coin would be a rose. North (1991), p94, no.1654.

A medieval silver penny of Edward IV dating to AD 1471-1483. The obverse of the coin is unclear and may have been double struck. Obverse depicts a crowned bust facing probably with a T to the left of the neck, the right of the neck is indiscernible. CIVITAS EBORACI reverse depicting a long cross with three pellets in each quarter plus an extra pellet in two opposing quarters and a quatrefoil in the centre of the cross.. Initial mark is a rose. Mint of York. Probably, North (1991) vol 2, p 94, no N1654-1656.
