A silver penny of King Stephen dating to the period AD 1154 - 1158. Cross voided within beaded quatrefoil, single fleur in each angle reverse. Awbridge Type. Mint and moneyer unclear. During this turbulent period in English history many irregular coins were struck and coins were also issued from dies that had been deliberately defaced, possibly as a rejection of Stephen's authority.

Silver penny of Stephen I a rare variant. Recorded by Dr Martin Allen at the Fitzswilliam museum on the EMC database as EMC 2017-0216. Dr Allen states that 'there are only 11 known coins from that die, and it is the first to be recorded on the EMC database. It's a Durham mint, north east variant, moneyer Fobund. A coin from that die is in the British Museum, BMC 252. The diameter is 19mm

An incomplete silver medieval penny of Stephen (AD 1135 - 1154), dating to the period AD 1135-1150. The obverse has a crowned bust right with rosette in front and no scpetre. The reverse has a cross with a mullet in each angle. This is a very rare coin, probably from a local or irregular issue, typical of the Southern variants from Oxford by the moneyer, Adam. The coin is in poor condition, struck off centre with most of the rim now missing. North 887 (Br.1c, M.181-2).

A medieval silver penny of Stephen (1135-1154); posthumous 'Awbridge' type (c.1154-58; North 881), moneyer: Roger (Rogier); mint; Norwich (probably, if misspelt). Ref: North 1994: 203; Mack 1966. The coin is doublestruck, most visibly on the obverse where the coin has rotated by 90 degree between strikings. The flan is now incomplete missing a portion of the outer edge.
