A complete Medieval silver penny of Edward III (1327-1377 AD), minted at York. Initial mark: cross 2. Probably Series E, 1354-1355 (North 1991: 51, ref: 1168). Obverse: EDWARD REX ANGL Z FRA (single annulet stops, unbarred N); Crowned bust facing with a bifoliate crown Reverse: CIVI/TAS/EBO/RACI; Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant Diameter: 18.8mm. Weight: 1.21g. DA=12:3-4. North, J.J. 1991. English Hammered Coinage, Volume II, Edward I to Charles II, 1272-1662. Spink & Son, London.

A Medieval silver half groat of Edward III (AD 1327 - 1377), Serie C dating from AD 1351 - 1352. London Mint. See North (1994) number 1148 on page 50. Part of the edge of the flan is missing between 12 and 3 o'clock on the obverse. The break seems to be ancient. There are also some crackes in the edge of the coin. The bust is worn and the reverse long cross is visible on the obverse ownign to "ghosting". The end of the reverse legend is also worn. The coin is 22.1mm diameter, 0.8mm thick and 2.22g.

An incomplete silver Medieval penny of Edward III (11327 - 1377), Pre-Treaty Period, Series F dating from AD 1356. Mint of London. See North (1994), number 1176 on page 52. The flan is broken and a piece is missing from the inner circle to the edge between 11 o'clock and 2 o'clock on the obverse. There is also a crack at 3 o'clock. The flan is also slightly bent and incomplete at 6 o'clock and there also appears to be clipping of the edge. There is some wear on the bust and on the right hand arm of the reverse cross. The coin is 18.5mm diameter, 0.7mm thick and 1g.
